….30% of Canadian seniors living independently experience at least one fall each year, and up to 25% of those falls result in serious injuries. Of the total number of seniors admitted to hospital each year with injuries, falls account for more than 85%. Sadly, falls often begin the process of diminished independence in older adults, and about 40% of admissions into a nursing home occur as a result of a fall.
